Job Description:
Summary
Illinois Central College is seeking adjunct faculty to teach Agriculture classes. If courses are available, adjuncts may continue to teach future semesters. The adjunct faculty are primarily responsible for teaching assigned courses, while maintaining programmatic and accreditation standards. Adjunct faculty must adhere to instructional syllabi, support student success, and maintain access for students during office hours. Maximum assignment may be up to 12 contact hours for fall and spring semesters, and if also teaching summer, contact hours must be maintained at or below 29 for the academic year.

- Instruct and coordinate courses including lecture and/or lab-based classes ensuring all necessary materials and tools are readily available and that safety standards are met, when appropriate.
- Follow syllabi for assigned courses communicating the expectations and schedule for the classwork.
- Maintain office hours and availability.
- Communicate with students working to ensure student success.
- Collaborate with Faculty and Staff to continuously improve and adapt the student experience to meet the needs of the student, community and institution.
- Perform related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness or Agricultural Sciences OR
Associate degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness or Agricultural Sciences and a minimum of 2,000 work hours as agriculturist OR 10 years' work experience as agriculturist. - Ability to instruct students by explaining, demonstrating and overseeing their exercises and giving advice on the immediate topic.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience instructing, tutoring, or similarly teaching in Discipline.
- Experience working in higher education.
