Position Summary:
The Ag Services Specialist administers and promotes the North Dakota Mediation Service and North Dakota Farm Management program, providing support to farmers, ranchers, and agricultural businesses through mediation, credit counseling, and grant assistance.
This position coordinates voluntary and confidential mediation and credit counseling services, oversees Credit Review Board, and assists agricultural producers with financial and credit-related matters. This position provides oversight and supervision to one part-time credit counselor and manages credit counseling and mediation services. Additional responsibilities include managing contracts, monitoring grant expenditures, reviewing payment requests and financial reports, conducting statewide farm visits, maintaining accurate records, and educating agricultural producers and farmers about state and federal programs and funding opportunities, and performs other Business, Marketing, and Information duties as needed.
In addition, this position also administers the Turkey Promotion Fund in coordination with the North Dakota Turkey Federation, including planning and supporting the annual Turkey Pardon, attending the annual meeting, and providing related administrative support.
This position is based on-site at the North Dakota State Capitol in Bismarck and requires regular in-office presence to support the Agriculture Commissioner, collaborate with the Business, Marketing, and Information Division, and fulfill the responsibilities of the position.

- A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Agriculture, or a related field.
- At least two years of professional work experience in finance and credit within the agriculture industry.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability and confidence to present information and speak effectively to groups and the public.
- The ability to travel both in-state and out-of-state, including overnight and occasional weekend travel, to attend conferences, meetings, continuing education opportunities, and other events, and to assist with Pride of Dakota showcases as needed.
- A valid Class D driver's license to fulfill the travel responsibilities of the position
Preference will be given to candidates who possess:
- An understanding of agriculture and North Dakota agricultural commodities.
- Experience managing grants and contracts.
- Experience interpreting and applying state and federal guidelines.
- Experience in positions requiring recordkeeping, and administrative skills.
- Prior supervisory experience.
