General Purpose

JSMM Farms (Niewohner Entities) is looking for a Livestock Hauler to safely and efficiently deliver livestock from feedlot/unit to market or processing plant with animal welfare being the foremost concern.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  1. In this operation it is important that every employee focus on the priorities of: Animal Health & Welfare; Employee Safety, and; Overall Productivity.
  1. Report to work on time each day and begin the day's activities.
  1. Adhere to the requirements and guidelines established by the Owners and Manager, and adhere to the policies included in the Employee Handbook.
  1. Perform the protocol established for loading/unloading animals.
  1. All drivers will follow the established state & federal driving requirements
  1. All drivers will not be allowed to hold phones while driving, must use headsets.
  1. Perform assigned operations and ensure they are completed accurately, consistently, efficiently, and according to policy including delegating or completing tasks and training.
  1. All drivers will be responsible for all paperwork associated with their task at hand such as swine, cattle, distillers, etc.
  1. Sort and move cattle/hogs as instructed.
  1. Check all incoming livestock for health status, appropriate paperwork, headcount, etc.
  1. Coordinate sorts and movement with the office and feed crew.
  1. Do your part to promote a sense of teamwork, camaraderie, safety and an enjoyable work environment.
  1. When operating equipment, check oil and fluids, keep the equipment and cab clean, do regular maintenance according to established procedure, and be sure that fuel is filled at the end of the day.
  1. Be Alert! Drive and operate all equipment according to established operational and safety procedures.
  1. Work in coordination with the Owners and the Manager.
  1. Do not make any purchases without the approval of your leaders. Return with a signed receipt for all purchases and leave that receipt in the designated location in the office.
  1. Be aware of potential environmental issues and notify the Manager of any concerns in this area.
  1. Keep waste to a minimum and constantly evaluate ways to reduce costs.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • Prior driving experience with a good driving record required
  • CDL preferred, but not required
  • Driven, organized, action-oriented, analytical, and ability to multi-task.
  • Individual must be team oriented.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to sit for long periods of time

Must be able to lift 25-75 lbs.

Dress and Personal Protective Equipment:

Must wear appropriate clothing for all operations to protect against injury-Safety eyewear when loading/unloading animals, when servicing vehicle make sure all PPE is being worn such as gloves and glasses.
