Job Summary/Basic Function
Support Shepherd University's Agricultural Innovation Center as an Administrative Assistant. The Administrative Assistant will work primarily by computer utilizing the farms online OneDrive filing system, along with some inventory management. Tasks to be expected include but are not limited to: record keeping, invoice tracking, conducting inventory, business planning, file organization, website updates, social media, and other administrative projects as needed.
Administrative Assistants are encouraged to help the farm create better, more efficient administrative systems to improve its operations. To better understand the farm and its operations, the Administrative Assistant may be asked to participate in regular farm duties for a select number of days at the start of their employment. The Administrative Assistant will primarily work alongside the Farm Coordinator and the Incubator Farm Coordinator but may also collaborate with other core members of the Farm team for specific projects.
This is a Federal Work Study Student Employment position. If you are not sure if you quality, please check with the office of financial aid. Students are not permitted to work beyond the FWS award they have been allotted for the academic year. Students may return to the farm the falling year if they are still eligible for FWS. Should they no longer be eligible, their supervisor will notify them of the separation.

Minimum Qualifications
- Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at Shepherd University.
- Degree-seeking student.
- Must have reliable transportation. The site is located 2 miles off of main campus
- Reliable and punctual
- Experience with Microsoft Excel
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with farming, gardening, or produce handling
- Interest in sustainable agriculture or local food systems

- Seeding, transplanting, harvesting, processing, and record keeping of crops
- Maintaining production plots by pruning, weeding, watering, bed preparation, and mulching.
- Office work such as entering data, event coordinating, and communications (social media, emailing, etc.)
- Ability to be a team leader and help give direction to volunteers and/or students.
