Agricultural Mechanics Shop Aide
Primary Purpose:
To assist teachers in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements, to work under the supervision of a classroom teacher.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High school graduate or hold a GED certificate
- To comply with the "No Child Left Behind" requirements, at least 48 semester hours of college credit or pass a rigorous test
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Have experience related to working with students or parents
- Desire and ability to work with and effectively communicate with staff, students, and parents
- Keyboarding and computer proficiency
- Experience with welding, small motors, and agriculture
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
- Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments
- Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom
- Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment
- Help the teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports
- Provide orientation and assistance to the substitute teacher when the teacher is absent
- Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups
- Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty where applicable
- Keep teachers informed of special needs or problems of individual students
- Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance
- Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned
- Assist with copying and assembling papers in the office, as requested
- Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned
- Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business; demonstrates teamwork in daily activities
- Is prompt and timely in completing daily tasks
- Meets attendance standards and complies with campus notification procedures for absences
- If applicable, input, verify, or update PEIMS information as assigned by the supervisor
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible
- Comply with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations
- Adhere to the district's safety policies and procedures
- Maintain confidentiality in the conduct of district business
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of interacting with students and/or district employees in the specific work site assigned
- Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance
- Other duties as assigned
