Description

We would love to have you join our team at the Kentucky Department of Agriculture! Our department providesservices and programs across the Commonwealth which benefit every Kentuckian each day.

This position will work in these will be across Kentucky and will work from a home work station. The employeewill commute to the inspection sites from their home daily in a state-issued vehicle and once inspections arecompleted, will return home. Reports and paperwork will be completed from home and vehicle using state-issuedcomputer equipment. A state-issued cell phone will be provided for business purposes.

This position is in our Office for Consumer and Environmental Protection, Amusement Safety Branch and has thefollowing duties:
  • Learn the laws and regulations regarding amusement rides, inflatables and other attractions that are licensed by the Department.
  • Learn to perform inspections on amusement rides.
  • Travel to inspection sites in state-issued vehicle.
  • Attend trainings both in-state and out-of-state.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports.
  • Maintain equipment in good working order.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Prefer candidates with background in vehicle maintenance, mechanical hydraulics, pneumatics and/or electricity.
  • Employee will be expected to climb to heights of 100 feet and work in cramped and close spaces.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION:Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:NONE

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:NONE

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:Experience in agriculture, inspection, quality control, regulatory, chemical application or application or inspection of pesticides or restricted chemicals, or a related field will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.

Working Conditions

Typical working conditions will require travel to such places as stockyards, farms, businesses, and amusement parks. Has close contact with livestock animals in such areas as stockyards, barns and/or barnyards.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
