The Research Stations Division is hiring an Agricultural Research Superintendent II to provide leadership to the Horticultural Crops Research Station in Clinton, NC. Our mission is to manage crop and livestock facilities which serve as a platform for statewide agricultural research to make farming more efficient, productive, and profitable while maintaining a sound environment, and provide consumers with safe and affordable products.
The primary purpose of Agricultural Research Superintendent II is to provide management of multiple complex research studies related to agricultural production. This position works collaboratively with the Division Director, Superintendents of other research stations, university staff, and researchers to increase research capacity, capabilities, and efficiencies.
The major functions of this position are:
• Provide oversight and leadership for all research programs.
• Supervision of a team consisting of a research manager, research specialists, agricultural technicians, administrative specialist, and seasonal staff.
• Human Resource Management
• Fiscal Management
• Overseeing operation and maintenance of the station's assets and real property
• Leading public relations efforts for the station.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Recruitment Range: $63,927 - $95,000

Bachelor's degree in animal science, crop science, horticulture science, or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of progressive experience in general agricultural management, agricultural research or agricultural education; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
