Schafer Farms Inc. is hiring a Barn Maintenance Lead for our Mill Creek sow unit in Muscoda, Wisconsin. In this hands-on role, you will take the lead on day-to-day barn maintenance and mechanical needs around our swine farm operation.

This is a strong fit for a practical problem-solver who can work through routine equipment and facility issues independently, keep essential barn systems operating, and pitch in wherever the team needs help.

What you will be doing

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain barns and their operating systems, including feeders, lighting, ventilation, and related equipment.
  • Handle routine electrical, plumbing, welding, and general mechanical work within your experience and ability.
  • Respond to day-to-day breakdowns and complete maintenance projects with limited supervision.
  • Support general barn upkeep and help keep the facility operating reliably.
  • Work alongside the production team and assist with some animal-care needs as needed.

This job is for you if you have

  • Hands-on maintenance and mechanical experience, including electrical, plumbing, and welding skills.
  • The confidence to work independently on projects and the teamwork to contribute across the barn.
  • A self-motivated, hardworking approach and a willingness to learn.
  • Willingness to learn proper swine care and handling; no prior pig experience is required.
  • Availability to work weekends.
