Truck Driver – Propane, Fertilizer & Chemical Tender

Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Bobtail Truck Driver to support our plant operations. This position will primarily operate bobtail trucks for propane deliveries, as well as tender trucks used to transport fertilizer and chemicals when needed.
The driver will be responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles, loading and unloading products, completing required inspections and paperwork, and following all company, DOT, and applicable hazardous-material safety requirements.
This is a hands-on position that may also require operating other trucks and equipment around the plant as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Class B CDL required
- Clean and acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass required DOT physical and drug/alcohol testing
- Ability to safely operate commercial vehicles
- Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Ability to follow written and verbal safety procedures
- Ability to work around propane, fertilizer, and chemical products safely
- Reliable attendance and dependable work ethic during different seasons
CDL & Endorsements
Required for hiring:
- Class B CDL
Preferred, but not required for hiring:
- Hazmat (H) endorsement
- Tanker (N) endorsement
- Hazmat + Tanker (X) endorsement
Candidates who do not currently have the Hazmat or Tanker endorsement will be considered for employment based on experience and qualifications, with the expectation that required endorsements will be obtained as applicable to the assigned duties and company requirements.
Additional CDL Requirement
A Class A CDL is required for employees who will operate certain other trucks or tractor-trailer equipment around the plant or for transportation duties requiring a Class A CDL.
Employees with a Class A CDL are preferred because they may be able to operate a broader range of company trucks and equipment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Operate bobtail propane trucks safely and efficiently
- Operate fertilizer and chemical tender trucks
- Load, transport, and unload products according to company procedures
- Perform vehicle inspections and report mechanical or safety issues to mechanics
- Follow DOT regulations and company safety policies
- Follow all applicable hazardous-material handling procedures
- Maintain accurate delivery, loading, unloading, and vehicle records
- Communicate professionally with plant personnel, customers, and other drivers
- Assist with plant transportation and truck operations as needed
- Maintain a clean and safe truck and work area
- Perform other transportation duties as assigned
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a driver who is safe, dependable, responsible, and willing to learn. Experience with propane, fertilizer, chemicals, or tanker operations is highly valued, but we are willing to consider qualified CDL drivers who meet the minimum requirements and are willing to obtain additional endorsements as needed. This is a year round position!
