Job Description
Coordinate and instruct courses in the agriculture business and production technology program.
This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Fiscal Responsibilities
• Recommend need for capital equipment - new and replacement.
• Arrange for repair and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
• Order and conserve expendable supplies.
• Be accountable for local funds.
• Actively seek donations from industry for tools, equipment, or money.
Safety Program/Risk Management
• Ensure every instructor is trained/certified to operate every piece of equipment.
• Conduct safety training to include providing oversight on student safety training.
• Ensure all students complete a hold harmless agreement.
• Maintain all equipment and tools to manufacturer specifications.
• Document all equipment and tool maintenance.
• Monitor safety practices and safety discipline in the lab.
• Comply with all DEQ requirements.
• Provide access to MSDS for all students.
• Provide access to all equipment and tool owner's manuals.
• Conduct risk assessment
• Develop risk reduction measures for all equipment and tools found in the lab.
• Implement shop risk reduction plan.
Program Management
• Update curriculum and change catalog copy.
• Submit proposals for expanded programs.
• Conform to requirements of outside agencies.
• Choose and order textbooks.
• Plan maximum utilization of work stations.
• Recommend advisory committee membership and arrange meetings.
• Schedule classrooms.
• Coordinate with Student Services in student selection and provide for students' special training needs.
• Develop and maintain program policy.
• Prepare for student registration.
• Assist faculty in student disciplinary actions.
• Enforce classroom/lab safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain accountability of program assets through inventory control.
• Enforce classroom/lab cleanliness and housekeeping practices.
Staff Management
• Assist in selecting new faculty and staff.
• Determine schedules for faculty including activities other than classroom/lab/shop.
• Assign and correlate participants for special activities.
• Evaluate effectiveness of instructors in the program and the school.
• Expedite flow of communication to and from the program.
• Schedule faculty recruiting efforts for high visitations, College events, and University public relation opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture Science or closely related field.
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to work effectively with college and university committees, campus organizations, and other educational institutions and to be involved in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
• Desire to create a lasting legacy in Agricultural Business & Production Technology education at Idaho State University.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in Ag science or related field.
• One to three years of college teaching experience.
• Experience in agricultural production or agricultural business related employment.
Additional Information
