Primary Purpose: To facilitate the teaching and learning process through the TEKS driven instructions within the classroom and/or lab setting (in person, distance, and/or virtual) creating a positive learning environment where students are immersed in enriching curriculum containing career opportunities, industry-based certifications, post-secondary credit, high level academics and technical skills to cultivate life-long learners in a competitive, global economy.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional Management
  1. Maintain class, storage, and other instructional areas in a clean and organized fashion.
  2. Work collaboratively with Professional Learning Communities (PLC) to implement district Scope & Sequence(s) and write lesson plans reflecting differentiated strategies for student learning styles.
  3. Conduct weekly common formative assessments and six weeks common summative assessments of student learning and use results to plan instructional activities with PLC.
  4. Plan, prepare, and present subject matter documents according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  5. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  6. Guide the learning process towards the achievement of curriculum goals by establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
  7. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP) and attend Annual Review and Dismissal (ARD) committee meetings as a Career and Technical Education (CTE) representative.
  8. Meet and instruct assigned classes in the location and at the time designated as instructor attendance is vital to student success.
  9. Equip students with skills necessary to improve study methods and habits.
  10. Plan and supervise students on off-campus activities including field trips and associated district CTE enrichment activities.
  11. Enhance youth leadership and FFA as an integral part of instruction

Budget and Inventory
  1. Review CTE district policies and procedures to stay up to date on district deadlines.
  2. Ensure proper inventory control utilizing CTE department district guidelines.
  3. Order/purchase supplies, materials, and equipment needed for classroom instruction and maintain financial records as needed for activity/budget expenses/income.
  4. Collaborate with campus program of study team, as necessary, to ensure agreement on program needs and budget spending to ensure equity.

School/Organizational Improvement
  1. Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  2. Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents regarding student achievement and the instructional program.
  3. Promote and advocate for program of study at district course information and selection events
  4. Accept a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.

School/Organizational Climate
  1. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  2. Implement the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  3. Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  4. Maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner through reasonable rules and regulations.
  5. Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for substitutes, teacher aide(s), volunteer(s), and cooperatively with department heads and grade level leaders.

Administrative and Fiscal/Facilities Management
  1. Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  2. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  3. Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board Policy.
  4. Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.

Professional Growth and Development
  1. Accept responsibility for professional growth, through involvement in an ongoing program of reading, workshops seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institution of higher learning.
  2. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  3. School/Community Relations
  4. Be available in-person, by phone, email, or video conferencing to confer with district personnel, students and/or parents.
  5. Communicate with students and parents on a regular basis via phone, video conference, email, or district-approved website.
  6. Make provisions for being available to students and parents for educationally related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.

Other
  1. Promote and advocate for program of study at district course information and selection events
  2. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  3. Attendance at work is an essential function.
  4. Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or Superintendent.

Content Specific Responsibilities and Duties
Industry Based Certification(s) (IBC)
  1. Follow the district testing calendar and facilitate student exam registration and transportation, if necessary.
  2. Prepare all students for the AWS Welding and Certified Veterinary Assistant Industry Based certification exam(s) with pretests and classroom instruction.
  3. Maintain teacher credentials for teaching and testing certifications.
  4. Maintain records of students taking, passing, and earning certifications and document with district CTE office per guidelines.

Supervised Agricultural Experience Programs (SAEP)
  1. Assist students in selecting a program that fits their interests and abilities
  2. Maintain records; all students should maintain records utilizing the AET platform
  3. Make supervisory visits during school year and during summer months

Career & Technical Student Organization (CTSO)
  1. Provide Career & Technical Student Organization - CTSO opportunities for students, by serving as a collaborating vertical FFA advisor team member
  2. Train students in LDE, CDE, SDE, Ag. Science Fair and other foundational FFA leadership and career building opportunities
  3. Assist in conducting leadership, citizenship, and cooperative activities for students at the district, area, state, and national levels
  4. Assist in preparing an FFA Program of Activities (POA), rosters, entries, registrations, etc. required by the local, district, area, state, and office promptly, and keep an accurate file copy of all records and reports
  5. Facilitate student CTSO declaration process.
  6. Assist in planning and executing fundraising opportunities for students
  7. Assume a responsible role in public and professional relations by actively participating in civic, professional, agricultural and other community organizations
  8. Supervise students at off-campus activities such as conventions, contests, workshops, field trips, etc., associated with the agriculture, food, and natural resources program and the FFA as applicable

Shop/Lab
  1. Instruct students on proper and safe use of equipment and chemicals.
  2. Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.
  3. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  4. Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and organization of the shop/lab environment to adhere to state, local, and district guidelines.
  5. Evaluate shop/lab periodically for building and maintenance needs.
  6. Maintain safety data sheet (SDS) manual for classroom and/or shop/lab.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervise teacher aides and volunteers as assigned
  • Supervise students
  • Work with community training stations to provide approved learning experiences for student trainees at each campus.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Experience:
  • Student teaching experience or other alternatives as State rules and guidelines may specify
  • Work experience, as per SBEC guidelines
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certification as required by the State of Texas or combined education and job experience as required by the LCISD District of Innovation guidelines.
  • Valid Texas driver's license and ability to be covered under the district's motor vehicle insurance policy
  • Must meet the requirement of training for course or willing to attend training(s) for course including but not limited to course IBC offerings or willing to attend TEA approved training and CTE Department and/or District required trainings

Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Well-rounded and capable of teaching in the animal science, plant and agriculture mechanics programs of study as courses will vary
  • Ability to drive a truck and trailer for use in hauling animals and projects
  • Ability to drive a bus (CDL) or to obtain training and licensure
  • Ability to supervise agricultural field experiences and use the Agriculture Experience Tracker (AET) platform
  • Effective communication skills/collaborative working style
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior using a variety of technological applications, platforms exercise effective teaching practices appropriate for assigned modality
  • Strong organizational, community, and interpersonal skills

Mental Demands:
Ability to concentrate (detailed work), communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data; reason, understand verbal instructions, analyze, differentiate, read, coordinate district functions; compile, compute, instruct, and maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent district and regional travel, occasional statewide travel, prolonged and irregular hours.
