Yoder Grain is hiring a Diesel - Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team in Bluffton, IN (about 20 miles south of Fort Wayne). In this role, you’ll diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide variety of diesel-powered equipment in both shop and field settings. We’re looking for someone with strong mechanical skills who takes pride in quality repairs and keeping equipment operating at peak performance.

Yoder Grain is a growing agricultural and equipment operation based in Northeastern Indiana. We operate and maintain a large fleet of diesel trucks, tractors, loaders, farm machinery, agriculture equipment, and heavy construction equipment that keeps our operation running year-round.

We offer competitive hourly compensation of $30 - $50 per hour based on experience, flexible scheduling, well-equipment shop, a supportive family-oriented work environment, and other benefits are available.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, drivetrains, electrical systems, and air systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on trucks, tractors, loaders, excavators, farm machinery, agriculture equipment, and other heavy equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and service software.
  • Inspect equipment and accurately document maintenance and repair work.
  • Weld, fabricate, and modify components as needed.
  • Perform both shop and field repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with equipment operators and supervisors regarding repairs and maintenance needs.

This job is for you if you have:

  • 3+ years of experience as a diesel, heavy equipment, agriculture equipment, or industrial mechanic.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and drivetrains.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment, farm machinery, or agriculture equipment.
  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple repair priorities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or diesel mechanic certification is a plus.

Salary range

  • $30 - $50 per hour
