ABOUT THE POSITION

Job Summary/Profile: The Farm Dog Bakery Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of Farm Dog Bakery, communicating effectively with the Senior Manager of Day Services and the Farm Dog Bakery team regarding all areas of the bakery and program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

In a manner consistent with supporting the Life Works mission statement and values, the Farm Dog Bakery Manager will be responsible for the following:

Bakery Operations
  • Identifies and coordinates the workflow of the daily bakery activities
  • Is the lead producer on the floor through hands on production, customer service, and equipment operation
  • Leads the small bakery team to meet productivity demands while fostering a positive and collaborative workplace culture
  • Stocks displays and coordinates bakery appearance to ensure that we have a variety of products available for purchase
  • Ensures the bakery is stocked to meet the current and anticipated demands for product sales goals

Operational Compliance
  • Ensures all required FDA and WSDA regulations are followed with respect to food handling and food safety
  • Completes required FDA and WSDA reports in a timely manner
  • Leads the team to comply with Labor and Industry practices related to bakery safety
  • Monitors equipment to ensure that it meets health and safety regulations and performance appropriate maintenance and cleaning; escalates to supervisor when equipment needs outside attention
  • Ensure bakery compliance with city ordinances regarding signage

Supervision of Staff
  • Supervise and support a team, providing daily direction, coaching, and performance feedback
  • Coordinate staff schedules, assigned work tasks, and ensure efficient daily operations
  • Train, onboard, and mentor new employees, promoting teamwork and workplace success
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively and ensure completion of tasks, projects, and customer commitments
  • Maintain accountability for team performance, safety, and adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and employee development to support business growth
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for staff, customers, and business owners, ensuring smooth operations and effective communication

Bakery Marketing Strategy
  • Manage the bakery marketing strategy across established digital, print, and community-based channels
  • Monitor market trends, customer feedback, and competitor activity to identify business development opportunities
  • Manage the bakery online presence, including website content, business listings, and online promotional campaigns

  • Create, schedule, and manage social media content across multiple platforms to increase brand awareness and customer engagement
  • Respond to customer inquiries and comments through social media channels in a professional and timely manner.
  • Track social media metrics and adjust content strategies to expand audience reach and support business goals
  • Ensure all social media communications align with the company's values, branding, and marketing objectives
  • Identify and attend local business promotional opportunities, including holiday events and canine related events

Additional Responsibilities

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Must have high school diploma, GED or above
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Leadership experience preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, OR REGISTRATIONS:
  • Must obtain criminal clearances as required. These could include: the Washington criminal history check, FBI criminal history check, and child abuse clearances in accordance with DSHS and DVR regulations.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Have a current Food Handler's Card or must obtain one prior to working (agency will pay)
  • Valid driver's license with driving record that meets agency policy.
  • Have a current CPR/First aid certification required or must be obtained

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Able to stand for up to four hours at a time
  • Frequent standing,walking and sitting
  • Pushing, pulling,crouching and reaching as required
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to be around household chemicals and fumes (i.e.cleaning supplies)
