Farm Equipment Mechanic

Plant Grow Harvest is hiring a Farm Equipment Mechanic in Cochise, Arizona. In this hands-on role, you will keep farm machinery, vehicles, irrigation assets, and field-support equipment safe, reliable, and ready for planting, irrigation, spraying, and harvest. You will independently diagnose problems, determine the right repair approach, complete repairs within your capabilities, and coordinate parts or specialized vendor support when needed.

Plant Grow Harvest is a vertically integrated potato company operating across multiple U.S. regions. The company manages farming, packing, supply chain, brokerage, and consulting services while building a disciplined, data-informed system for consistently producing high-quality potatoes.

You will also help move the operation from reactive repairs toward a consistent preventive-maintenance program supported by inspections, work orders, accurate records, organized parts, and clear communication with operators and farm leadership.

What you will be doing

• Inspect, diagnose, service, adjust, test, and repair agricultural machinery, vehicles, irrigation assets, and field-support equipment.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on tractors, planters, harvest and tillage equipment, forklifts, trucks, trailers, pumps, and related machinery; troubleshoot diesel, hydraulic, electrical, driveline, steering, braking, cooling, fuel, and other mechanical systems.
• Repair or replace components, perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and field modifications within your capabilities, and test completed work before returning equipment to service.
• Respond to shop and field breakdowns and remove equipment from service when mechanical, operational, or safety concerns require it.
• Complete scheduled maintenance, seasonal inspections, winterization, storage, and return-to-service work; track service intervals and common wear components.
• Maintain and repair irrigation pumps, motors, valves, fittings, sprinklers, pipe-related assets, and other irrigation-support equipment where applicable.
• Create and close work orders; document inspections, diagnostics, repairs, parts, labor, unresolved issues, and follow-up while keeping the shop, tools, parts inventory, and equipment records organized.
• Communicate repair priorities, equipment status, parts needs, completion timing, and operational risks; coordinate with dealerships, suppliers, mechanics, and specialized vendors when outside support is needed.
• Support operators with inspections and basic equipment care, and follow company safety procedures for lockout/tagout, lifting, blocking, welding, electrical, and repair work.

This job is for you if you have

• A high school diploma or equivalent and at least 3 years of relevant experience repairing agricultural, diesel, heavy, industrial, irrigation, truck, or construction equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems, complete preventive maintenance, and document repairs.
• A valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable under company policy.
• The ability to work safely in shop, yard, and field conditions that may include heat, cold, dust, mud, noise, vibration, grease, chemicals, uneven terrain, moving machinery, and weather exposure.
• Availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends, extended hours, and rapid response during planting, irrigation, spraying, harvest, and other critical periods.
• The ability to travel between local fields, operational facilities, suppliers, and repair vendors as needed.

Preferred experience

• 5 or more years of agricultural or heavy-equipment mechanic experience, including work with specialty-crop equipment, tractors, planting and harvest equipment, forklifts, irrigation systems, trucks, or trailers.
• Completion of a diesel, agricultural-mechanics, heavy-equipment, welding, electrical, or related vocational program; welding or fabrication certification; and/or a Commercial Driver’s License.
• Experience using computerized maintenance-management or work-order systems and organizing preventive-maintenance programs or parts inventory.
• Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills and/or experience training operators on inspections and equipment care.
