Lone Tree Farms is hiring an experienced Farm Equipment Operator to join our family-owned agricultural operation in Harrisonville, Missouri, approximately 35 miles south of Kansas City.
In this hands-on agricultural position, you will operate modern farm machinery, assist with crop production, maintain and repair equipment, and provide occasional support to our large sow farm. What You’ll Be Doing
- Operate agricultural and heavy equipment, including 200+ horsepower tractors, planters, combines, and self-propelled sprayers
- Assist with planting, spraying, harvesting, and other daily crop-production activities
- Operate GPS guidance systems and computerized controllers on modern farm equipment
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on farm machinery, trucks, and facilities
- Assist with the maintenance of pork-production facilities and occasionally help load pigs
- Learn to operate the feed mill and deliver feed
- Keep the farm shop clean, organized, and properly maintained
- Assist with other agricultural and farm-related responsibilities as needed
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating large farm equipment or heavy machinery
- Experience operating 200+ horsepower tractors, combines, and self-propelled sprayers
- Knowledge of agricultural equipment maintenance and repair
- Ability and willingness to learn GPS systems and computerized equipment controls
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in agriculture is a plus
- Valid driver’s license required
- Current CDL or willingness and ability to obtain one
- Clear and effective communication skills
- Strong time-management and organizational abilities
- Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Comfortable working outdoors and working longer hours during planting, harvest, and other peak seasons
- Welding experience is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch on varied surfaces
- Ability to climb ladders and safely access grain bins
- Strong hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and ability to grasp tools and equipment
- Ability to work around noise levels that may require hearing protection
- Ability to safely perform physically demanding work in varying weather conditions
Work Schedule
The typical schedule for this full-time Farm Equipment Operator position in Harrisonville, MO, is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a rotating weekend schedule. The position averages approximately 45 hours per week. Additional hours will be required during planting, harvest, and other peak farming seasons.
