We're hiring a dependable Breeder Barn Farm Hand for our Columbia Valley, B.C. location. FVSP is looking for someone who is hands-on, reliable, and motivated to support animal welfare and farm operations in a team-focused environment.

What you'll do

• Feed and water poultry according to established schedules and protocols


• Monitor poultry health and behaviour and address concerns promptly


• Collect eggs and ensure proper handling and storage


• Clean and disinfect barns, equipment, and facilities regularly


• Maintain proper ventilation, temperature, and lighting conditions


• Follow biosecurity measures to prevent disease outbreaks


• Maintain accurate records related to feed consumption, egg production, bird health, and breeding activities


• Assist with inventory monitoring of feed, medications, and farm supplies


• Load and unload supplies and equipment as required


• Remove poultry mortality from barns promptly and in accordance with procedures


• Clean exhaust fans, intake vents, and brooder tops


• Clean manure, shavings, and spoiled feed from clean-out pads and feed bin pads


• Verify feed clocks, auger clocks, and lighting timers are set correctly


• Load out spent duck breeder fowl for transport to slaughter or other facilities


• Perform yard upkeep including grading driveways, cleaning pads, mowing, trimming, and weed eating


• Prepare barns for ducklings and bird transfers, including cleaning, disinfecting, equipment checks, and spreading new shavings

• Comfortable with physically demanding, hands-on farm work

• Able to work independently and as part of a team


• Willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions


• Available for weekend coverage as required

• Previous experience in farming, livestock care, food production, or equipment operation is an asset but not required - we are happy to train the right person.

Relevant Experience:
Any experience in farming, poultry or livestock care, food processing, WHMIS, Food Safe, First Aid, or equipment operation is considered an asset but not required.
