Jealous Fruits is the northern most large-scale cherry producer in North America. We grow premium cherries along the shores of Okanagan Lake in the renowned Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Canada. Our cherries are all hand packed in our state-of-the-art facility, located right on our farm, and shipped to our customers worldwide.

Job Purpose

Under the direction of the Plant Manager the Forklift Operator is responsible for the safely transport of cherries in the processing plant or designated loading area.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Unloading and loading trucks, trailers and tractors
  • Moving, stacking, and unstacking fruit bins inside and outside of the packing plant.
  • Moving packed fruit and supplies around our facility.
  • Carrying out checks and maintaining records required of the job.
  • Working in a safe efficient manner, following applicable work safe and food safe requirements.
  • Any other duties within the scope of the job that may be as assigned from time to time.
  • Ensuring all maintenance issues are reported to your supervisor.
  • Report any equipment damage to Plant Manager.
  • Perform and record machinery inspection checks before work shift following checklist provided.
  • Taking part in Health and Safety training.
  • Following direction given by supervisor

Qualifications
  • Fluent in English is an asset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management.
  • Able to work for extended periods of time in a focused, safe, and professional manner and work all shifts as required.
  • Must be a flexible team player who works well in a busy and demanding environment
  • Meet all physical requirements demanded by the job.
  • Previous experience operating a forklift is preferred.

Working Conditions

Our working environment is extremely demanding over a short time period. Applicants should be aware that:
  • Work hours are not calendar based, but are dependent on crop maturity and weather
  • Our facility operates 8-16 hrs/day, 7 days per week during harvest.
  • Overtime provisions do not apply for this position

Expected hours: 30 - 50 per week
