Job Title: Fleet & Ag Equipment Mechanic Location: Highland Ag Services & Highland Farms | Brule, NE Employment Type: Full-Time About Us Highland Ag Services and Highland Farms are affiliated companies under common ownership. Highland Ag Services is a full-service agricultural retailer specializing in custom applications, dry fertilizer applications, soil sampling, chemical and fertilizer delivery, and variable-rate application services for our growers. Highland Farms is a fully operational farm focused primarily on crop production.

Position Summary Highland Ag Services and Highland Farms is seeking a dependable and skilled Mechanic to join our team. This position will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of both the company’s trucks, trailers, agricultural application equipment, and other farm-related equipment. The ideal candidate is mechanically minded, self-motivated, safety-conscious, and able to troubleshoot and repair equipment efficiently. This position plays a significant role in keeping our equipment operating safely and reliably, especially during our busy agricultural seasons. Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on company trucks, trailers, and agricultural equipment.

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and other equipment issues.
• Perform preventative maintenance to reduce equipment downtime and extend

equipment life.
• Service and maintain engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, hydraulic

systems, and other mechanical components.
• Maintain agricultural application equipment, including sprayers, fertilizer equipment,

pumps, and related components.
• Maintain farm equipment, including tractors, planters, and harvest equipment.
• Inspect equipment before and after use to identify potential maintenance or safety

concerns.
• Complete oil changes, lubrication, filter changes, fluid checks, and other scheduled

maintenance.
• Repair or replace worn, damaged, or malfunctioning parts as needed.
• Perform welding, fabrication, and basic metalwork when necessary.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, parts, and equipment issues.
• Work with management to identify equipment needs and prioritize repairs.
• Keep the shop, tools, and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Maintain an adequate inventory of commonly used parts, supplies, and maintenance

materials.
• Assist operators with troubleshooting equipment and repairs in the field when needed.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns during peak agricultural seasons and assist in

minimizing downtime.
• Follow all company safety procedures and manufacturer recommendations.
• Properly use and maintain tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Previous mechanical experience preferred; agricultural, heavy equipment, diesel, or automotive experience is a plus.

• Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel-related issues.
• Experience working with agricultural equipment is preferred but not required.
• Ability to safely operate and work around trucks, tractors, sprayers, and other agricultural

equipment.
• Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
• Ability to use basic diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Valid driver's license required.
• CDL is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Willingness to work extended or flexible hours during peak agricultural seasons.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to regularly lift and carry tools, equipment, and parts.
• Ability to work in various positions, including standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and

working underneath equipment.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to safely handle mechanical components, tools, oils, lubricants, and other

maintenance materials.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to equipment needs as they
