General Manager

Farmers Co-Operative Grain Company is hiring a General Manager to join our team in our Kinde, MI location, serving Michigan's Thumb. In this role, you will lead a diversified, well-established organization with approximately $45M in annual sales, 40+ employees, multiple business divisions, and a supportive Board committed to investing in long-term success.

We are primarily a grain and agronomy elevator that includes a feed division, full-service gas station, fuel and propane delivery service, lumber, and hardware. We also have a second location in Cass City, MI that is a retail store selling feed, hardware, tools, and other farm and agriculture products. This is an opportunity to lead an established organization with a strong reputation, loyal customer base, and significant opportunity to improve efficiency, profitability, and organizational structure.

In this role you will:
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for a $45M diversified agricultural cooperative, overseeing grain, agronomy, feed, fuel, propane, lumber, and retail operations.
  • Lead and develop 40-50 full-time employees plus seasonal staff while fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.
  • Evaluate current business operations and implement new processes, KPIs, and organizational structure to improve operational efficiency, profitability, customer service, and long-term performance.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service for our farm and agriculture customers while strengthening relationships within the local farming community.
  • Partner with the Board of Directors to develop and execute short- and long-term strategic initiatives that position the cooperative for continued success.

This role is for you if you bring:
  • A degree in agriculture, agribusiness, agronomy, farm management, or related field preferred but not required.
  • Progressive leadership experience in agriculture, farming, agronomy, grain handling, agribusiness, or farm operations.
  • Proven experience leading multiple departments, developing teams, managing budgets, and driving operational and financial performance.
  • Outstanding leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to earn trust, lead change, and unite teams around common goals.
  • A customer-first mindset and passion for serving farmers and rural communities.
