Welcome to Larsen Farms! We’re hiring a Herdsperson to join our team in Scottville, MI (about an hour north of Muskegon). In this role you will be managing various aspects of animal health, livestock care, and dairy farm operations, with a focus on efficiency, organization, and the overall well-being of the herd.
We are a dairy farm located in western Michigan, where we milk 675 cows and farm 2400 acres. Our farm thrives on respect, integrity, and a shared commitment to excellence. What you will be doing:
- Monitor and assess the health of the entire herd, ensuring all animals are in optimal condition.
- Conduct health exams and administer treatments to cows as needed, including dry treating, vaccinations, and breeding shots.
- Utilize farm technology programs like PCDart, rumination, and activity collars to track and enhance herd performance.
- Breed cows and heifers, ensuring proper animal care throughout the process.
- Manage the care and processing of fresh cows upon arrival.
- Oversee parlor operations and supervise the milking teams to ensure efficiency and high standards.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to accomplish daily tasks and support the overall operation of the farm.
- Keep work areas clean and organized to promote safety and productivity.
- Assist in other operations and tasks as required by the farm manager.
This job is for you if you have:
- Prior experience handling cows is preferred.
