High Rocks- Riverhawk Farm-WVU at Parkersburg
The Riverhawk Farm functions as a living classroom, workforce training site, community demonstration farm, and local food resource. Students and community members gain real experience through crop production, livestock care, food aggregation and distribution, farm equipment operation, specialty crop production, youth outreach, and producer partnerships. The farm also supports community food security work by growing and distributing fresh local food and connecting learners to agricultural career opportunities.
Member Duties : The AmeriCorps members will support agriculture education, community outreach, and capacity building at The Riverhawk Farm. The two full-time members will provide consistent leadership for K12 farm-based learning, agriculture demonstrations, youth and community workshops, volunteer coordination, local food and healthy futures programming, and program documentation. The three part-time 6-month members will add seasonal capacity for school outreach, farm-based learning sessions, harvest and food access activities, volunteer support, outreach events, and special projects tied to Riverhawk Farm programming. Day-to-day responsibilities may include preparing learning stations, setting up materials and supplies, assisting with planting/harvest demonstrations, coordinating volunteer sign-in and assignments, documenting service numbers, communicating with school and community partners, helping maintain safe learning spaces, and supporting outreach for Riverhawk Farm programs.
