MelbournePark is an iconic, multi-venue, world-renowned precinct that delivers hundredsof diverse sport, entertainment and community events each year, including oneof only four tennis Grand Slams in the world - the Australian Open.

TheMelbourne Park precinct is home to six of Melbourne's premier venues - RodLaver Arena, Margaret Court Arena, John Cain Arena, AAMI Park, Kia Arena andCENTREPIECE at Melbourne Park - as well as the National Tennis Centre, two showcourts, 35 outdoor tennis courts, six indoor tennis courts, Tennis HQ, OlympicPark Oval, Gosch's Paddock and the KGM Centre.

OurHorticulture & Sports Grounds team plays an essential role in maintainingand enhancing these diverse spaces, ensuring Melbourne Park has world-classgrounds, gardens and facilities to support our events, tenants, athletes,visitors and community.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reportingto the Horticulture Manager, the horticulturalist is an integral member of MelbournePark's Horticulture Team, responsible for supporting the delivery ofhorticulture and turf services across the precinct.

You'llplay an important role in maintaining the presentation and quality of MelbournePark's gardens, open spaces, lawns and clay courts, ensuring they aremaintained to world-class standards for our events, tenants, athletes, visitorsand community.

Workingalongside a team of horticulture and sports turf experts, you'll collaborateclosely with venue, event and operations teams, tenants, business partners andvenue hirers to ensure the precinct's grounds and facilities are safe, wellmaintained and presented to world-class standards.

Thisis an exciting opportunity for an experienced horticulture professional to workwithin a unique, high-profile sporting and entertainment precinct andcontribute to the presentation and ongoing development of some of Melbourne'smost significant sporting and recreational facilities.

WHAT YOU'LL FOCUS ON
  • Assist in the delivery of the horticulture program across Melbourne Park, ensuring the precinct is maintained to world-class presentation standards
  • Assist with the planning and programming of annual garden beds and larger-scale horticultural projects
  • Support the maintenance and presentation of gardens, landscaped areas and open spaces across the precinct
  • Assist in the delivery of high-quality lawns and open space turf areas across Melbourne Park
  • Apply chemicals and fertilisers safely and in accordance with current standards and requirements
  • Assist with the collection and maintenance of horticulture-related data across the precinct
  • Operate horticultural machinery and equipment safely and effectively within a busy public environment
  • Identify horticultural, turf and site-related issues and recommend practical solutions
  • Assist in the delivery and maintenance of high-quality clay courts for all users
  • Work collaboratively with venue and event teams to ensure horticultural activities support the safe and successful delivery of events
  • Participate in toolbox meetings and actively promote safe working practices across the Horticulture Team and broader precinct
  • Build positive and professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including tenants, venue teams, event teams, business partners and venue hirers
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and best-practice horticultural and turf management across Melbourne Park

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • Current driver's licence
  • Current ACUP licence
  • Certificate III in Horticulture (Parks & Gardens)
  • Demonstrated experience in managing horticulture sites in public spaces
  • Experience operating horticulture machinery and equipment in a public space
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • A collaborative approach and demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build positive and effective relationships
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify problems, develop appropriate responses and implement practical solutions
  • Understanding of safe work practices and the ability to consistently operate in accordance with relevant safety requirements
  • Moderate computer literacy, including a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

DESIRED
  • Experience in major event, facility and/or venue operations
  • Experience working within the event industry or at a place of public entertainment
  • Understanding of work health and safety practices
  • Forklift licence
