SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Hosts serve as the first point of contact for all museum visitors. They create a welcoming and informative first impression by greeting guests, providing orientation, and delivering accurate information about the museum's programs, services, exhibitions, policies, and special events.
Hosts administer the museum's admission process, including operating the point-of-sale system and handling monetary transactions in accordance with established financial procedures.
In their role as ambassadors for Ingenium, Hosts ensure that each visitor's experience begins positively and reflects the institution's mission and mandate. They operate the admission desks, support group check-ins, and offer general and tourist-related information to enhance the overall visitor experience. Additionally, they may assist with the safety and security of guests and staff by participating in emergency or fire safety protocols.
Hosts also contribute to a smooth and enjoyable visit by assisting with other tasks that support the visitor experience team and the museum's day-to-day operations.

EDUCATION
- Successful completion of secondary school.
- Post-secondary education is an asset.
EXPERIENCE
- Experience handling cash and financial transactions;
- Experience working in a front facing, customer service environment;
- Experience in explaining products, services and/or membership value add to customers.
KNOWLEDGE
- General knowledge of customer services standards and practices;
- General knowledge of the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum;
- General knowledge of Ingenium.
COMPETENCIES
- Ability to communicate orally in both official languages;
- Ability to work well independently without supervision;
- Ability to work well as part of a cohesive team and being collaborative;
- Ability to process accurate financial transaction (cash);
- Ability to multitask (simultaneously handle cash, processing payments, using a computer-based POS system, providing electronic invoices, etc.);
- Ability to remain calm and positive during buys times and to efficiently occupy your time during slower periods;
- Ability to assess all sorts of situations, remain calm, de-escalate and find a solution by using sound judgement.
