Role Overview
Based on-site in regional South Australia, this contract position acts as the Owner's primary on-site HSE Representative, providing authoritative guidance and safety oversight for a flagship renewable construction project. Role Overview

The role is responsible for driving a safety-first culture, executing site-level auditing, monitoring contractor compliance, and ensuring project delivery aligns strictly with statutory standards and corporate health, safety, and environmental frameworks.
Key Accountabilities
- Site Safety Leadership: Champion a proactive safety culture on-site, serving as the principal client authority to ensure adherence to all HSE regulations, site protocols, and project requirements.
- Contractor Oversight & Compliance: Monitor and audit principal contractor and sub-contractor performance against approved safety management plans, driving timely corrective and preventive actions where gaps exist.
- Auditing & Assurance: Design audit tools and execute systematic field inspections, job reviews, and formal contractor audits across all construction phases.
- Incident Management & Reporting: Lead incident reporting processes, hazard assessments, and comprehensive metrics collection (including hours worked and non-compliances) to generate monthly project performance packs.
- System Implementation: Oversee and verify the site application of the Project HSE Management System, ensuring alignment with relevant Australian safety and environmental legislation.
- Tertiary qualification in Health, Safety and Environment or a related discipline.
- Proven field-based HSE management experience on major construction or utility-scale infrastructure projects (renewable energy, wind farm, or large-scale civil/electrical construction experience highly regarded).
- Strong knowledge of current Australian HSE legislation, statutory regulations, and industry standards.
- Formal HSE Auditor qualification and ICAM incident investigation accreditation are highly advantageous.
- Exceptional communication and conflict-resolution skills, with a proven ability to manage contractors and build strong working relationships.
- Comfortable working autonomously in remote project environments while managing competing site priorities effectively.
