Back Creek Ag is hiring a Lead Ag Equipment Technician to join our team in Sophia, NC (about 20 miles south of Greensboro, NC). This role is primarily an advanced diagnostic and repair position focused on solving complex problems with farm machinery and agriculture equipment, not routine maintenance or basic equipment assembly.
We are a family-owned agricultural equipment dealership and service business in central North Carolina. With deep roots in farming, we sell, service, and support a wide variety of farm machinery and agriculture equipment, including tractors, hay and forage equipment, feed mixers, manure handling equipment, grain/no-till drills, livestock equipment, implements, and attachments. We are a small, hands-on team that values quality work, practical problem-solving, independence, and taking care of our customers.

Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical/electronic systems, drivetrains, PTO systems, and other mechanical systems.
- Troubleshoot complex, intermittent, and recurring farm machinery and agriculture equipment failures.
- Identify root causes rather than simply replacing failed components.
- Perform major repairs and engine work as needed.
- Complete both shop and field service repairs.
- Work on tractors, hay and forage equipment, feeding equipment, manure-handling equipment, implements, and other agricultural machinery.
- Test completed repairs and clearly communicate findings and recommendations.
- Provide technical guidance to other employees on challenging repairs when needed.
Qualifications
- Strong experience as an agricultural equipment, diesel, heavy equipment, or comparable service technician.
- Proven ability to independently diagnose complex mechanical problems.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, drivetrains, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and technical service information.
- Major engine repair or rebuilding experience strongly preferred.
- Agricultural equipment experience preferred, although experienced heavy equipment, construction equipment, or truck technicians are encouraged to apply.
- Dependable, adaptable, low-ego, and comfortable working independently.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with a methodical, root-cause approach to repairs.
