Maintenance & Operations Manager

PublishedPublished: Published 1 month ago
Lennard Ag Company, a family-owned farming operation established in 1947, is seeking a Maintenance & Operations Manager to oversee equipment maintenance and daily operations at our 2,500-acre irrigated potato farm in Temperance, Michigan.

We are looking for a hands-on leader with strong mechanical and electrical skills who enjoys troubleshooting equipment, solving problems, and leading a team. Agricultural experience is not required. We welcome candidates from industrial maintenance, heavy equipment, manufacturing, and other mechanically focused operations.

This is a working management position where you will lead alongside your team, rather than operate or drive farm equipment. During planting, harvest, and shipping seasons, you will oversee seasonal equipment operators and drivers, including H-2A employees. During the off-season, you will work with a smaller team focused on preventative maintenance, equipment repairs, and facility upkeep.

We offer competitive compensation, health and dental insurance, paid time off, and additional benefits. This is a year-round position with longer hours during planting and harvest and a more predictable 40-45-hour workweek during the winter months.

This opportunity is ideal for a mechanically strong Maintenance Manager, Equipment Manager, or Operations Manager who enjoys hands-on work, leading people, and keeping a complex operation running efficiently.

Key Focus Areas

  • Oversee daily operations and maintenance for approximately 2,500 acres of potatoes and grain.
  • Lead and coordinate seasonal employees, equipment operators, drivers, and outside contractors during planting, harvest, and shipping.
  • Work closely with the internal agronomy team to coordinate field activities and execute crop management plans, including coordinating spraying applications with outside agricultural retailers.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain center pivot irrigation and fertigation systems.
  • Perform hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on farm equipment and facilities, including conveyors, gearboxes, and other mechanical systems.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance and ensure equipment and facilities are maintained and ready for seasonal operations.
  • Coordinate corn drying operations, potato storage facilities, inventory, and outbound shipments.
  • Coordinate shared equipment, personnel, and resources with other Lennard Ag locations.
  • Maintain the weekly farm operations dashboard and communicate regularly with the team at the Howe, Indiana headquarters.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient operation throughout the year.
