GAF is a highly motivated service organization focused on using the assets of Greenacres to provide custom-designed hands-on active learning opportunities for children of all ages. All opportunities are customized to the needs of the visiting group which primarily consist of local school groups from K to 8. All school based programs are tied to the national and/or state standards so they contribute to the success of the classroom teacher.
In 1988 we focused on Environment Education, had one employee and provided hands-on programs about riparian zones for 60 children. Each year we provide programs based on the environment, generative agriculture, equine, and classical arts to over 32,000 visitors. Our programs are of the highest quality. They should be. The Row Crop Coordinator will be in charge of coordinating and managing all row crops at Greenacres. This role will take on the planning, execution, education and vision associated with row crops. Additionally this role will assist annual vegetable and flower production as needed on the farm.

Overview:
The Row Crop Coordinator will be in charge of coordinating and managing all row crops at Greenacres. This role will take on the planning, execution, education and vision associated with row crops. Additionally this role will assist annual vegetable and flower production as needed on the farm.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinating daily with the Site Manager on tasks
- Flexibility in helping all of garden production including vegetable production, flower production and events.
- Assisting manage garden staff in the completion of daily operations of the garden production
- Responsible for coordinating row crop work, harvest and implementation
- Assist in development and growth of the row crop program
- Assist in management and development of row crop programs at other Greenacres properties
- Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of all garden equipment and storage facilities associated with row crop production
- Coordinate delivery of product to Farm Store
- Assist with garden production records
- Ability to operate required equipment and machinery including; tractors, mowers, skid steer loader, other necessary implements
- Manages supply inventory and informs manager of any needs
- Manages fields and soil to optimize quality and weed control creating positive environmental impact
- Provide support services to other departments for the advancement of the mission
- Create educational content based on the garden as well as row crop production
- Regular contributor to weekly meetings.
- Can lead education groups as a chaperone and answer some questions
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent work experience
- Knowledge of sustainable and generative agricultural practices
- Experience with all aspects of vegetable and greenhouse food crop production
- Experience or passion for grain production as well as livestock.
- Ability to supervise and train garden staff (full time and seasonal staff/interns)
- Highly motivated and self-driven individual with attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize, problem solve, and multitask with minimal to no supervision
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments
- Ability to lift at least 50lbs and continually move equipment and materials commensurate with the position
- Valid driver's license with insurable driving record. Travel required to other Greenacres Farms as needed. Commitment to working within a functional team and collaborative culture
- Ability to successfully pass a post-offer pre-employment drug test and fingerprint FBI background screen
- Ability to work with both internal and external partners with the same or different backgrounds to ensure that all who visit Greenacres get the highest quality experience that addresses their needs
