Standard Truck and Trailer Sales, Inc., based in Fresno, CA, serves California growers, processors, and logistics teams with agricultural trailer rentals. Our fleet includes high-side and low-side hopper trailers, grape gondolas, and flatbed trailers used during harvest and throughout the year.

We’re looking for a hands-on Shop Foreman (Lead Trailer Mechanic) to lead our repair team and help keep that fleet ready for customers. You’ll work alongside a close-knit crew, performing trailer repairs, overseeing welding and fabrication, and checking completed work for quality and safety. This is a working leadership role for someone who enjoys solving mechanical problems, mentoring other mechanics, and preparing equipment for the demands of harvest season.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform and oversee maintenance, service, and structural repairs on agricultural flatbed and hopper trailers.
  • Lead welding and fabrication projects, including structural repairs and custom builds for the almond, pistachio, and wine grape industries.
  • Inspect completed repairs before trailers are released to customers, ensuring work meets company and safety standards.
  • Assign daily work, help mechanics troubleshoot repairs, and keep shop projects moving.
  • Train and mentor junior mechanics on trailer systems, shop equipment, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain a safe shop environment, follow forklift and heavy equipment safety guidelines, and implement the company’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program.
  • Coordinate with the Operations Manager to have equipment ready by contracted pickup dates.
  • Coordinate and perform off-site emergency repairs when needed.
  • Maintain company-provided tools and shop equipment, monitor parts inventory, and order supplies as needed.
  • Work with the Office Manager on employee schedules, repair priorities, rental deadlines, and preparation for off-site customer repairs.

What We’re Looking For

  • At least 5 years of mechanic and welding experience in agriculture, heavy trucking, trailer repair, or a related field.
  • Welding certificate required.
  • Forklift operating experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting, fabrication, and quality control skills.
  • The ability to lead a small team with a positive, professional approach.
  • The ability to lift and carry more than 50 pounds, perform hands-on repair work requiring manual dexterity and coordination, and work outdoors during hot California summers.

Schedule

The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. During the May–August peak season, hours may increase to up to 60 per week, including eight Saturdays leading up to harvest.

Pay and Benefits
