Position Summary

The Student - Rodeo Livestock Caretaker is responsible for feeding and caring for rodeo livestock and general cleaning of stalls and rodeo grounds.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities: Within the scope of college policies and procedures, this position:

Waters and feeds rodeo livestock

Operates arena working equipment, pickup truck and side by side

Cleans stalls, pens and rodeo arena as needed

Alerts supervisor of any potential concerns regarding the welfare of livestock

Reports required repairs to facilities and equipment to supervisor

Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Education and Experience; Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education and Experience Requirements:
Enrollment at Cochise College with a minimum of 6 credits per semester and 3 credits in the summer
Possess and maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or higher
Students attending Cochise College on an F-1 Visa require full-time enrollment with a minimum of 12 credits per semester and six credits in the summer

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures
Knowledge of the care and feeding of livestock
Skill in effectively identifying and resolving problems
Ability to multi-task and organize, prioritize
Ability to work independently while contributing to the team environment
Ability to lift up to 100 pounds

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Work Environment: Work is primarily performed under general supervision and in a variety of climatic conditions. May require working early morning, evening, and/or weekend shifts.
Physical Requirements: Essential functions of this position require: manual dexterity, ability to communicate, lifting, kneeling, squatting, climbing, crawling, stooping, turning/twisting, balancing, reaching and handling with varying frequencies.
Heavy Work: Occasional lifting and carrying objects up to 75 pounds, Frequent lifting and carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds; and/or continuous lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 10-20 pounds.
Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability and creative problem solving skills are important
