Job Description:
Employment is with The Research Foundation for The State University of New York, a private, nonprofit, educational corporation that administers sponsored program activity for SUNY Cobleskill.
SUNY Cobleskill seeks a Marketing Communications Specialist (MCS) who will be responsible for marketing plan preparation, creating content, and implementing an integrated marketing communications and brand strategy across a variety of channels, including digital and print. The MCS will lead efforts in promoting USDA programs and creating promotional materials to reach current and prospective participants for the Institute for Rural Vitality (IRV).
The successful candidate will also provide recruitment and support to underserved farmers, ranchers and veterans on behalf of the Office of Partnerships and Public Engagement (OPPE).
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Agriculture, or related field from an accredited institution.
Proficiency in digital marketing tools, social media platforms, and design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
Exceptional organizational, project and event management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage effectively with government representatives, stakeholders, and community members.
Familiarity with SUNY Cobleskill's and the Institute for Rural Vitality's missions, visions and programming.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook for email management
Ability to build relationships, alliances, and partnerships with internal and external organizations.
Ability to travel to off-campus events and programs
Ability to work as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduate degree in marketing, business, agricultural business management, or a related program.Strong knowledge of USDA initiatives, grant opportunities, and rural/agricultural development programs.
5+ years of professional experience in marketing and communications; experience with USDA programs
Experience in grant administration preferred.
Project management skills preferred.
Understanding and/or demonstrated familiarity with small business operations.
In-depth knowledge of working with veterans, farmers, and/or ranchers
Agriculture industry experience is preferred.
Additional Information:
$58,000 - $65,000
Monday-Friday 8:30- 4:30 PM. Occasional nights and weekends Full-time
October 15, 2026 - September 29, 2028
Renewal contingent on additional funding
