Technical Sales Agronomist

SUL4R–PLUS is hiring a Technical Sales Agronomist to support our regional sales managers, responsible for Illinois, Missouri, and surrounding areas. In this role you will work directly with growers, agricultural retailers, and sales teams to provide hands-on agronomy, crop nutrition, and fertilizer expertise. You’ll spend time in the field evaluating crop and soil conditions, making practical agronomic recommendations, supporting field trials, and educating customers on SUL4R-PLUS products.

SUL4R-PLUS is focused on helping growers get more from their crops through effective sulfur and calcium nutrition. Working alongside agricultural retailers, agronomists, and growers we provide crop nutrition solutions backed by agronomic research and field performance. What you will be doing:

Agronomy & Grower Support

  • Serve as a trusted Agronomist for retailers, growers, and sales teams, with expertise in sulfur and calcium nutrition, fertilizer, soil fertility, and crop production.
  • Evaluate field conditions, soil and tissue data, and crop challenges to develop practical agronomic recommendations.
  • Explain the agronomic and economic value of SUL4R-PLUS within balanced crop nutrition and fertilizer programs.
  • Support growers and customers through farm visits, consultations, field days, and technical meetings.

Technical Sales & Education

  • Provide ongoing agronomy and crop nutrition training for SUL4R-PLUS sales teams.
  • Lead grower and customer education.
  • Translate technical research and trial results into clear, practical information for growers, retailers, and sales professionals.
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing to ensure product messaging is accurate and supported by available research.

Field Trials & Research

  • Assist with the design, execution, and evaluation of agricultural field trials, crop demonstrations, and fertilizer trials.
  • Coordinate trial objectives, protocols, and data collection with growers, customers, sales teams, and research partners.
  • Analyze and communicate trial results and recommendations to SUL4R-PLUS and leadership.
  • Identify grower needs and product performance insights that can guide future research and product development.

Sales & Partnership Support

  • Coordinate technical support and field activities with the Director of National Accounts and Regional Sales Managers.
  • Provide agronomic support for other crop input products and programs as assigned.
  • Track customer activity, technical inquiries, training, and field trials while sharing relevant customer feedback and regional agronomic trends.
  • Represent SUL4R-PLUS at customer meetings, farm visits, field days, trade shows, and agriculture industry events.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of agronomy or agriculture experience working with growers, retail agronomists, crop input dealers, or agricultural sales teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, Plant Science, Agriculture, or a related field preferred.
  • Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) certification or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of crop nutrition, fertilizer, soil science, cropping systems, plant physiology, and production agriculture, including sulfur and calcium nutrition.
  • Experience with field trials, crop research, product demonstrations, and interpreting agronomic data.
  • Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to connect technical recommendations with practical agronomic and economic value.
  • Self-directed, organized, collaborative, and comfortable managing priorities across multiple teams and regions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and tools used to track field activity and research results.

Travel & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel approximately 60–70% for customer visits, farm visits, trade shows, field tours, and training.
  • Comfortable working in agricultural fields, manufacturing facilities, warehouses, customer locations, and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, solve technical problems, and work effectively under deadlines.
