Truck driver & Sod Farm Equipment Operator

Somerset Sod Farms, a leading turfgrass producer, is looking for a dependable, hardworking Truck Driver & Sod Farm Equipment Operator to join our team.

This is a permanent, year-round position that offers variety throughout the seasons. During our busy season, you’ll spend much of your time delivering freshly harvested sod to commercial and residential jobsites. During slower months, you’ll work on the farm operating equipment, preparing fields, maintaining trucks and machinery, and helping us get ready for the next growing season.

What You’ll Do

Drive & Deliver Sod

• Safely operate straight trucks, flatbed trucks, and/or semi-trucks with flatbed trailers
• Deliver palletized sod to commercial and residential jobsites
• Secure loads properly and ensure safe transport
• Complete required pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain accurate driving logs

Operate Equipment

• Unload sod at jobsites using a truck-mounted forklift, such as a Moffett
• Operate tractors, mowers, off-road forklifts, and other farm equipment
• Safely load, transport, and unload farm equipment when traveling on public roads

Maintain Trucks & Equipment

• Assist with routine maintenance and minor repairs on trucks, trailers, farm equipment, and implements
• Clean, inspect, and prepare equipment during the off-season
• Help keep the fleet and farm equipment ready for peak-season operations

Support Farm Operations

• Assist with field preparation and other seasonal farm activities
• Help with road maintenance, property upkeep, facility cleaning, and other general farm needs
• Learn and work with new and advancing agricultural equipment and technologies

What We’re Looking For

Required:

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Current DOT medical card
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and safely climb on and off trucks and equipment
• Comfortable working outdoors in changing weather conditions
• Willingness to work extended hours and some weekends during peak seasons
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
• Dependable, safety-minded, and willing to learn

Preferred:

• Class A or Class B CDL
• 2+ years of commercial driving experience
• Experience operating agricultural, construction, or other heavy equipment
• Experience with flatbed hauling, forklifts, or truck-mounted forklifts
