R&R BRONEC GRAIN & CATTLE
COMPANY HISTORY
Located near Carter, Montana, R & R Bronec Grain & Cattle is a fifth-generation family-owned farm and ranch run by Bob and Becky Bronec, son/daughter-in-law Rich and Stacy Bronec, and daughter/son-in-law Anna and Matt Heryford. The farm and ranch operation currently produces wheat, pulse crops, and hay, along with black Angus cattle on three different locations. Bob married Becky in 1977 and began farming in 1982 after leaving City Chevrolet, where he had worked as a full-time auto mechanic. Rich joined the operation full-time in 2006 after working for two years in accounting. Stacy also works for the operation and runs StrongHer Together: A Conference for Women in Agriculture. Rich and Stacy were married in 2013 and have three children: Rhett, Allie, and Nora. Matt and Anna Heryford joined the operation in 2009 after Anna graduated with a degree in Animal Science from MSU. Matt has leveraged his lifetime ranch experience to lead, with Anna, the cattle operations. They have two children, Grace and Ames.
CURRENT OPERATION
The farm and ranch operation currently operates on approximately 20,400 acres of cropland and hay and 29,000 acres of native grass and pastureland in Chouteau, Cascade, Liberty, Toole and Glacier County. The land is a mixture of owned and rented land. Four full-time and several seasonal employees execute operations. The operation manages a 1,000 head cow and calf herd and raises wheat, barley, mustard, chickpeas, lentils and other crops.
