On-site housing included. Most of the 24 horses on site are Quarter Horses that have been born here as have their mothers and grandmothers. There is no boarding nor training of outside horses at our farm. Most of our horses have been sired by stallions who have produced at least one million dollars in reining, cutting, or working stock horse events. We have recently changed our focus to using four of our own home bred stallions to breed our mares. The stallions are taken off site to be collected and there is no breeding of horses at our training facility..
Responsibilities of the Broodmare Manager would include:
- Assist in foaling out mares
- Oversee daily care and management of broodmares, including feeding, grooming, health monitoring, and breeding activities
- Coordinate breeding schedules, track reproductive cycles, and be able to assist with artificial insemination at the off site location if needed to do so.
- Supervise farm staff in animal husbandry tasks, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and high standards of animal care
- Maintain detailed records of mare health, breeding history, and foaling data using farm management software
- Assist in Implementing pasture management practices so turn out pens can be rotated in such a manner that horses will always have grass in their turn out pens.
- Keep the stallions ridden through out the entire farm including the neighboring rancher's thousand acre cattle ranch
- Put the first rides on 2 young horses
- Mentor an eager to learn staff of young adults who have worked here for at least 3 years. Are currently taking care of the horses and want to know more about training and caring for horses. The staff will be available to help groom, cool down, warm up, etc.
Required Experience would include:
- References from at least 3 equine professionals verifying experience with riding, training, and collecting stallions
- Ability to teach horses and humans in a mentoring fashion so both horse and human feel they have a willing input into to the learning process
Financial Compensation would include:
- Base salary of $600.00 - $1,200.00 per week depending on experience
