POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director - Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) provides leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of K-12 CTAE programming and supports school-based, district-based, and industry-based programming. Develops the capacity in school-based leaders in ensuring their CTAE Pathways align to business/industry workforce needs and demands. Implements all functions related to the operation of the district-wide Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) programs in a manner that fulfills the vision, mission, and strategic goals of the District while complying with state and federal laws and accreditation standards related to CTAE. This position reports to the Chief Academic Officer of Support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directs the preparation of short and long-range plans for Clayton County Public Schools' CTAE programs. Directs efforts to develop, adopt, and/or revise curriculum materials for CTAE courses. Appraises and evaluates the total CTAE program.

Collaborates and coordinates with principals, local school CTAE supervisors, and teachers to ensure the integrity of each program. Assists in the planning and implementation of professional development activities for CTAE teachers in all subject areas. Assists in the recruitment and screening of career, technical and agricultural teachers for the purpose of ensuring qualified employees.

Maintains membership in the Georgia Association for Career and Technical Education (GACTE). Serves as facilitator of the General Advisory Committee for CTAE. Monitors the creation and use of Program Advisory Committees. Assists in District certification for the purpose of ensuring an effective program for all middle and high school students.

Ensures instructional audits in local schools; identifies appropriate state or college/university personnel to assist with program audit.

Prepares annual budget for the CTAE Department. Identifies financial resources available for use in CTAE programs; manages (and keeps in good standing) local and special grant budgets. Reviews and assists in approving textbooks and other instructional materials used in CTAE programs.

Facilitates state and federal reporting.

All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Master's degree in Career - Technical Education, Workforce Education, Adult and Career Education or a related field from an accredited university required; Specialist degree preferred.

Minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience in public school in the area of Career, Technical, and Agriculture Education. Five years leadership/supervisory experience in K-12 programs required - district or building leadership acceptable.

Makes decisions and final recommendations, which routinely affect the activities of others.

Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) Educational Leadership - Tier I certification (L-5) required.

High level of judgment required: supervisor is available on a limited time basis; individual required to establish and evaluate departmental and organizational objectives; independent judgment is required to review and approve major recommendations.

Requires regular, frequent contact with internal personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of moderate importance; requires continuing contact with officials at higher levels. Excellent interpersonal skills are required for working with inter-organizational teams.

Responsible for supervising multiple functions with a high-level of accountability for effective operation and results. Requires excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.

Applies, recommends and implements technology concepts to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the District.

Constant (Daily) - to exercise the duty of care and protection of the health, safety, security, welfare, well-being, and best interests of the district's various stakeholders.

Normal Office setting. Requires frequent travel for off-site training locations and school site visits.

Light duty - On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. Light lifting or carrying 20 lbs. or less.

NOTE: This is a grade 32, 225 day position that pays for experience up to a Step 8.
