Farm Equipment Operator

Elting Farms is hiring Farm Equipment Operators to join our team in Edgar, NE (about 100 miles southwest of Lincoln). In this role you will be operating tractors, farm machinery, and agriculture equipment. While we need capable equipment operators, we are especially interested in individuals who can recognize, troubleshoot, and help diagnose mechanical problems when they arise. Honesty, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic are essential.

We are a fast-paced, family farming operation located in south-central Nebraska. We manage approximately 10,000 acres and have specialized in corn production for many years.

Our modern fleet of farm machinery includes John Deere agriculture equipment, as well as Peterbilt and Kenworth trucks. We take tremendous pride in keeping our equipment clean, maintained, and ready to perform. This is a hands-on farm where everyone works together to get the job done.

We offer competitive hourly compensation of $20 - $25 per hour, 6-month and 12-month bonuses, company pickup with fuel provided, and much more.

What you will be doing:

  • Operate tractors, farm machinery, and agriculture equipment
  • Assist with planting, fertilizer application, spraying, and harvest
  • Perform fieldwork and weed-control spraying
  • Haul corn, fuel, and other materials using farm trucks
  • Operate grain carts and assist with grain-handling activities
  • Check grain bins and monitor the grain dryer during harvest
  • Irrigate crops and help maintain watering schedules
  • Inspect, clean, and maintain farm equipment, trucks, and machinery
  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues with tractors, trucks, engines, and irrigation equipment
  • Assist with servicing Valley and Reinke irrigation pivots
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Perform additional farm duties as needed throughout the season

This job is for you if you have:

  • Previous farming, agriculture, equipment operation, mechanical, or related experience preferred
  • Knowledge of engines, trucks, tractors, farm machinery, or agriculture equipment
  • Ability to recognize and help diagnose mechanical problems
  • Honest, dependable, observant, and detail-oriented
  • Willingness to work long hours during planting, harvest, and other busy seasons
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small, hands-on team
  • Commitment to treating equipment carefully and maintaining it to a high standard
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • CDL or experience operating semi-trucks is a plus
