The award winning Grandover resort and Spa, a Wyndham Grand Hotel is currently seeking a Head Horticulture Professional to work with our Golf Maintenance team!
Position Function:
To Coordinate and participate in the planting and routine care of trees and shrubs, ground covers, Perennials and annual plantings on through Grandover Resort.
Key Responsibilities:
• Care of all Annual, Perennial and native flower beds and shrubs on hotel grounds at both Sheraton and Grandover Resort on the Golf courses and Resort Entrances
• Knowledge in plant selection, soil preparation, Pruning, Watering, IPM and dead heading.
• Design and construction of new beds
• Schedule Watering Cycles
• Order Summer and Winter Annuals
• Manage Horticulture crew with good communication skills and keep Director of Grounds informed.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
• Ability to read and write.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Experience in Horticulture, landscape operations or related field desirable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to read and understand pesticide labels.
• Ability to operate farm equipment and landscape machinery.
• Individual must have a strong work ethic and good eye for detail.
• Knowledgeable or willingness to learn in the process of installing shrubs, trees and annual plant material within the landscape.
• Lift 50lbs plus and use rakes and shovels.
• Work in all-weather environments: rain, snow and heat.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort :
• Regularly involves lifting, bending or other physical exertion. Often exposed to one or more elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc.
• Occasional - Routine deadlines; usually with adequate lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor.
• Job frequently requires standing, walking, reaching, climbing or balancing, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands, and lifting upto 50 pounds.
• Job occasionally requires sitting, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, and little more than 100 pounds.
• Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and /or electronically.
