Assistant Horticulturist

Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club

For golf enthusiasts, Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club boasts a riveting 27-hole championship course designed by golf course architect Ron Garl.

Golden Ocala boasts a refined landscape in the French provincial format with formal hedges, classic gardens and manicured lawns. We are looking to add a team-oriented individual with a passion for beautiful landscaping, professional service and the golf country club atmosphere. This is a high expectation position with the focus on continuing to foster a team environment while enhancing conditions in and around the Club House, common areas, Gates, access areas and golf course beds. Our team concentrates our effort into creating a unique development plan to enhance each team member's skills and focus on work- life balance as a key component. The Assistant Horticulturist will work 40 hours per week and a few hours every other Saturday.

Experience Requirements:
  • Must have a TEAM mentality. The right candidate must have the willingness to grow and learn as well as having a desire to advance their career in the golf course horticulture industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of and experience with all equipment associated with landscape maintenance and installation to include commercial mowers, tractors, gas powered hand tools, golf carts, trimmers, edgers, etc.
  • Experience in landscape installation and maintenance in a commercial or golf course setting.
  • Must be self-motivated, lead by example, and have a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems, and efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure.
  • Supervises and participates in fertilizer and pesticide applications. Must know how to operate and calibrate fertilizer and pesticide equipment. Maintain application sheets and documents for inventory control.
  • Must have extensive plant knowledge and considerable background in landscape and team management.
  • Degree in Horticulture or related field preferred, or 3-6 years relevant experience.

Salary:

$45,000-$55,000/year
