Melbourne Grammar School has an exciting opportunity for a Horticulturist to join our Grounds & Gardens team. Reporting to the Grounds Manager and the Head Horticulturist, the Horticulturist is responsible for the maintenance, presentation and enhancement of garden beds and landscaped areas across the School. This is a hands-on role requiring a high standard of horticultural practice.
The role will also provide support to the maintenance of sporting fields, grounds and synthetic surfaces as required. Paramount to this position is the ability to consistently present the School's gardens and surrounds to a high standard.
This position is primarily located at the Grimwade House campus but will be required to work at other Melbourne Grammar School locations as needed.

Must hold, or be willing to obtain, a current Employee Working with Children Clearance.

You will:
- Maintain high-quality presentation of all gardens, landscaped areas and garden beds across campus
- Undertake planting of trees, shrubs, perennials and seasonal plantings in line with approved planting plans
- Carry out soil conditioning, mulching, fertilising and plant health treatments in accordance with best horticultural practices
- Monitor, operate and adjust irrigation systems to ensure efficient water use across landscaped areas
- Support the maintenance and presentation of turf areas, ovals and surrounding grounds as required
- Maintain hard surfaces, drains, garden edges and surrounding areas in a clean and presentable condition
- Operate machinery and equipment safely and in accordance with manufacturer and safety guidelines
- Safely handle, apply and store chemicals in accordance with regulations and best practice
