Commonwealth Irrigation is hiring a Landscape Manager to join our team in Spotsylvania County, VA (about an hour north of Richmond). In this role you will oversee daily field operations, manage crews, and ensure the successful execution of landscape, irrigation, and hardscape projects. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who understands both the operational and client-facing aspects of the business and can take ownership of projects from planning through completion.

What you will be doing:

  • Manage and supervise landscape maintenance and installation crews.
  • Coordinate daily schedules, job assignments, equipment needs, and material deliveries.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and according to company quality standards.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor workmanship, safety, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate with clients to provide project updates and address questions or concerns.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and develop crew members.
  • Assist with sales, estimating, job costing, project planning, and landscape design recommendations.
  • Oversee landscape installation projects including plantings, turf, irrigation, drainage, and hardscape features.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure proper use by team members.
  • Enforce company policies, safety procedures, and operational best practices.
  • Support additional business operations and special projects as needed.

Key Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in landscape management, landscape construction, or a similar leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of plant material, landscape installation practices, maintenance techniques, and horticulture principles.
  • Experience with hardscape installation including patios, walkways, retaining walls, and outdoor living features is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret landscape designs, plans, and specifications.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Experience working with residential and commercial clients.
  • Certifications in horticulture, landscape architecture, landscape construction, or related fields are highly desired.
  • Pesticide Applicator License preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Experience with irrigation systems, troubleshooting, maintenance, and drainage solutions.
  • Familiarity with estimating software and project management tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Ability to create 3D landscape and hardscape designs for client proposals.
  • Experience utilizing AI tools for problem-solving, estimating, and landscape design development.
