OVERVIEW & HIGHLIGHTS
The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District is seeking a qualified individual as an Ornamental Horticulture Coordinator. The incumbent under the direction of an assigned administrator, organize, coordinate and oversee the day-today operations and supervision of the Ornamental Horticulture Department; including facilitation of department accounts, budgets and purchasing; maintenance of department equipment and supplies for the ornamental horticulture programs and facilities including a storeroom, retail store, greenhouse, shade house and other growing areas; coordinate and organize large-scale department events and activities; oversee and participate in the plant care activities; assist in the overall promotion of the ornamental horticulture program and serve as liaison between the Nursery, vendors, the College and the community If this describes you, we encourage you to apply for the opportunity to join the innovative and talented Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District team and become a part of this dedicated team in beautiful San Diego County!

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Two years college-level course work or the equivalent with specialized training in ornamental horticulture or a related field.
EXPERIENCE:

Increasingly responsible experience in ornamental horticulture.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California driver's license and ability to qualify for district vehicle insurance coverage.
Valid California State Pesticide Regulation Qualified Applicator's Certificate, Category B (landscape maintenance).

VETERAN'S POINTS:
  • Veterans not previously employed by the District, with 30 days or more of military service who become eligible for appointment by attaining the passing mark established for the examination, shall be allowed an additional credit of five (5) points and disabled veterans shall be allowed an additional credit of ten (10) points, which shall be added to the percentages attained in the examinations by the veterans.

ASSESSMENT PROCESS:
  • The assessment process for this position may include any combination of the following:

    • Written assessment (Written assessments contain proprietary content and are in-person only and cannot be completed remotely.)

  • The District reserves the right to utilize a flexible pass point (cut-off) on any test part to meet the staffing needs as determined by the District.
