  • Oversee day-to-day livestock and property checks across three nearby cattle and hay properties, becoming the owners' trusted eyes and ears when they're away.

Situated in the picturesque Somerset Region of Southeast Queensland, this family-owned farming operation spans three rural properties located approximately one hour from Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, and just 20 minutes from both Kilcoy and Woodford. Running a small Droughtmaster and Charolais breeder herd alongside hay production, the business is well maintained and enjoys reliable water, peaceful surrounds and an exceptional rural lifestyle.

This position reports directly to the property owner and offers a relaxed, flexible working arrangement for someone wanting to stay active in agriculture without the pressures of full-time work. Ideally suited to a semi-retired farmer, grazier or experienced rural couple, you'll play an important role in maintaining the day-to-day operation, particularly when the owners are away.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Monitor livestock, including checking calving cows, feeding weaners and feeding out hay as required.
  • Conduct regular inspections of fences, waters and general property infrastructure to ensure everything is operating smoothly.
  • Transfer cattle, machinery and equipment between the three properties using an LR licensed truck.
  • Act as the owners' trusted on-site caretaker, maintaining a strong awareness of stock, property conditions and reporting any issues promptly.
Selection Criteria:
  • Previous practical cattle and farming experience, ideally from a farming or grazing background.
  • Current LR (Light Rigid) Truck Licence or ability to operate an LR vehicle confidently.
  • Honest, dependable and committed to a long-term position with excellent attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently with good observation skills and sound livestock knowledge.
Additional Particulars:
  • Comfortable partly furnished, air-conditioned three-bedroom cottage with power included and a fully fenced house yard with established vegetable gardens.
  • Secure fenced area available for a small dog.
  • Permanent part-time position with highly flexible working arrangements (generally no weekend work unless seasonal requirements arise).
  • Modest negotiable wage package offered, with accommodation included as part of the overall package.
