Job Objective & Safety/Security Sensitive Designation
JOB OBJECTIVE: To perform various duties required to maintain a clean and healthy environment for farm and program animals and other assigned animals at the Little Rock Zoo.
This is a safety/security sensitive position for purposes of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment is subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing.

Minimum Qualifications, Additional Requirements and Supervisory Responsibilities
These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of high school and six (6) months of experience in the care of farm animals and/or waterfowl OR two (2) or more years of related education (biology, zoology, wildlife biology, etc.) with an internship in a zoo or sanctuary setting. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
  • Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Regular part-time employees who work 1,500 hours shall receive six (6) days of Sick Leave upon the completion of the 1,500 hours. If unused, this Sick Leave shall be allowed to accumulate to a maximum of fifteen (15) days (120 hours). Regular, full-time non-probationary employees who transfer to Regular, part-time positions will receive credit for the previous year's service for purposes of Sick Leave accrual and may carry over accrued Sick Leave accrual up to the maximum noted above.

Regular part-time employees who were in pay status (vacation, sick leave, or actual hours worked) for at least 1,500 hours during the year shall receive the following Vacation Leave:

Up to 10 years of service (40 hrs.) = 5 days per year
10 years or more (60 hrs.) = 7-1/2 days per year
