Work Schedule Summary
Position is expected to start 6/3/2026 and end 8/14/2026
Maximum of 400 hours (10 weeks), 40 hours per week. Some evening and weekend hours may be required. No work will be performed on the following University of Idaho observed holidays - Memorial Day (May 25), Juneteenth (June 19), Independence Day (July 4).

Responsibilities
Job Duty Function
Perform summer internship duties by:
Job Duties/Responsibilities
• Assisting with Extension services and ongoing summer research projects and site visits.
• Assisting in compiling data and information for horticulture, livestock, and small acreage projects in Canyon County.
• Assisting Extension Educators and Program Assistants in collecting and processing data for Canyon County programming areas (Horticulture, Livestock, Small Acreage).
• Assisting the UI Extension Canyon County Office (Horticulture/4-H Youth Development) during the 2026 Canyon County Fair (July 23-29).
• Assisting the UI Extension Canyon County Team/Office with various ongoing tasks/projects.
• Preparing an internship experience final report and submitting to the UI Extension Director at the end of the internship.
PROVIDED SUPPORT
• Program supplies/equipment.
• Positive learning experience with strong, engaged professional mentors.
• Use of a computer.

Position Qualifications
Required Qualifications
• Must have completed a minimum of 12 credits within the last year (these 12 credits may come from high school dual enrollment credits) and are currently enrolled at one of the following eight Idaho public universities or colleges (private Idaho universities or colleges do not qualify). Priority will be given to University of Idaho student applicants.

College of Eastern Idaho
North Idaho College
• Must provide own transportation and have the ability to travel to multiple work sites. University will follow applicable policies if personal vehicle is used, which may include reimbursement at a pre-established rate.
Preferred Qualifications
• Completed coursework in Horticulture, Biology, Ecology, Livestock, Environmental Science, Mapping or other relevant subject areas.
• Outgoing and comfortable working with the public and volunteers (youth and adults).
• Self-motivated and can work independently.
• Experience answering phones, responding to email and communicating through social media outlets.
• Enjoys working in a variety of settings and environments with various audiences.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
• Must be able to lift, carry and/or move up to 25 lbs.
• Must be willing to work in an office environment as well as varying field conditions.
