This role involves teaching various agricultural subjects, mentoring students in hands-on projects, and promoting agricultural literacy within the school community.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cover a range of agricultural topics, including plant science, animal science, agribusiness, and environmental stewardship.
- Instruct students in both classroom settings and hands-on laboratory or field experiences.
- Assess and evaluate student performance, providing constructive feedback and support for improvement.
- Organize and supervise extracurricular activities such as FFA (Future Farmers of America) events, agricultural fairs, and community service projects.
- Collaborate with colleagues and administration to enhance the agricultural curriculum and integrate interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom and laboratory environment.
- Stay current with agricultural trends, technologies, and educational practices to continuously improve teaching methods.
- Foster relationships with local agricultural businesses and community organizations to create opportunities for student internships and real-world experiences.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the school community through committees and events.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Education, Agricultural Science, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in Agricultural Education or the ability to obtain one.
- Strong knowledge of agricultural concepts, practices, and technologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
- Experience in teaching or working with youth, preferably in an educational setting.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and community stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and training.
