Job Summary
We are seeking a Technical Support Specialist for a contract opportunity supporting greenhouse, turf, and ornamental plant research activities in Hiawatha, IA. This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented professional with strong plant science knowledge, mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting ability, and the confidence to work independently in a field and greenhouse environment.
The Technical Support Specialist will help establish, maintain, and coordinate technical projects and demonstrations that support product performance, customer satisfaction, and successful product positioning. This is a strong opportunity to contribute to meaningful work in the biotechnology and agricultural sciences space while partnering with experienced teams across market development, product development, marketing, management, customer service, and technical support.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field and greenhouse evaluations of turf and ornamental plants.
- Establish, maintain, and coordinate technical projects, product demonstrations, and evaluation trials.
- Provide technical support and product knowledge to internal teams, including sales, marketing, customer service, market development, and product development.
- Collect and communicate technical product support data, product features, benefits, and performance observations.
- Troubleshoot equipment, greenhouse processes, and project-related issues while working independently.
- Support hands-on tasks such as building boxes, maintaining project materials, and ensuring trial activities remain on schedule.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay rate: $29.00 per hour.
- Job type: Contract/Temporary.
- Contract length: 12-month contract to start, with possible extensions up to 24 months.
- Work arrangement: 100% onsite.
- Worksite location: 1450 Robins Road, Suite 300, Hiawatha, IA 52233.
- Screening requirements: Drug screening required.

- 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree required, with specialization in turf, ornamental plant growth, plant science, horticulture, agronomy, biology, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of ornamental plant growth and culture.
- Turf experience or specialization is desired.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform hands-on technical tasks.
- Ability to work independently and hit the ground running in a fast-paced onsite environment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Project management, organization, and multitasking ability.
- Demonstrated academic achievement with GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Authorization to work in the United States without restrictions.
- Valid and current driver's license.
- Ability to pass background, motor vehicle, and required screening checks.
- Ethical, trustworthy, reliable, flexible, adaptable, and team-oriented.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in turf, ornamental plant growth, horticulture, agronomy, plant science, or a related field.
