Agronomist

PublishedPublished: Published 2 months ago
About the role
As an Agronomist, you will be a vital member of the branch team and a trusted advisor to our cropping clients. Working closely with rural products teams, you'll provide practical agronomic advice and support that helps growers make confident decisions related to crop inputs, soil health, and farm management.

You'll operate both in the field and in-store-assisting clients with planning, product selection, and the adoption of new technologies, while also identifying opportunities to promote Elders' wider range of products and services. This role is hands-on and relationship-focused, aimed at supporting grower success and delivering sustainable, profitable outcomes.

Responsibilities

As an Elders Agronomist, you will:
  • Build and maintain strong, service-based relationships with broadacre cropping clients
  • Provide tailored agronomic advice across chemical, fertiliser, seed and soil health
  • Conduct in-field assessments and deliver crop monitoring and planning services
  • Develop seasonal programs and input plans to support on-farm success
  • Identify opportunities to grow your client base and cross-sell Elders products and services
  • Stay informed on local agronomic trends, R&D, and emerging technologies

About you

To succeed at Elders, you have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in agricultural science, agronomy or a related field
  • Practical experience in broadacre agronomy, agricultural product sales, or crop consulting
  • Strong technical knowledge of cropping systems and sustainable input planning
  • Sound use of digital farm management systems for planning and recording recommendations
  • Current driver's licence and the ability to work independently in the field
  • Passion for Australian agriculture and a proactive approach to building client relationships
