SUMMARY: The Associate Accountant plays a key role in supporting the financial and operational performance of the Waterloo Pork Plant through reporting, analysis, and business partnership. This position is responsible for providing timely and accurate reporting of yields, labor, production costs, margins, and other key performance indicators that support operational and financial decision-making.
Working closely with plant leadership, operations teams, and divisional finance partners, the Associate Accountant serves as a trusted business partner across all levels of the organization, from hourly team members and supervisors to plant management and divisional leadership. The role combines financial analysis with a strong understanding of manufacturing operations to identify trends, uncover opportunities, and support initiatives that improve plant performance, efficiency, and profitability.
In addition to routine reporting and analysis, this position supports special projects and strategic initiatives that span both plant-level operations and broader divisional objectives. Through close collaboration with cross-functional teams, the Associate Accountant helps translate operational activities into meaningful financial insights that drive informed decision-making.
A successful Associate Accountant is naturally curious, eager to learn, and energized by understanding how a manufacturing facility operates on a day-to-day basis. This individual seeks opportunities to improve processes, enhance reporting accuracy, and leverage technology to increase efficiency. The role embraces modern tools and analytical techniques, including advanced Excel capabilities, Microsoft Copilot, and other emerging AI technologies, to streamline reporting, automate routine tasks, and deliver greater value to the business.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or experience commensurate with knowledge typically acquired through a four-year degree is required.
Experience: 6+ months' work experience preferred but not required.
Computer Skills: Requires standard computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office applications. Excel, Word, PowerPoint. AI/SAP experience will be a plus.
Communication Skills: Must have excellent written and verbal skills.
Special Skills: Self-starter with the ability to work independently or in a team environment; using good judgment to complete tasks; ability to set priorities and coordinate with others.
Supervisory: None
Travel: 1 plus trips per year.
