Aquaculture Consultant (Production Technician)

PublishedPublished: Published 2 weeks ago
We're on a mission to revolutionise sustainable agriculture using our Precision Photosynthesis® technology to produce algae and seaweeds for category-defining products that deliver positive impact on a global scale.

Based in Noosa, Australia, we've partnered with some of the world's largest corporations in personal care and agriculture to deliver our first-of-a-kind products, and we are now rapidly scaling operations to meet increasing demand.

We're seeking an exceptional Aquaculture Consultant (Production Technician) with experience in microalgae cultivation to join our growing production team, focused on the large-scale production of microalgae in our recirculating production facilities. This is a hands-on, science-led role: you'll apply aquaculture and environmental-science expertise to optimise cultivation and downstream processing, develop and refine protocols, and drive data-driven improvements across our operations. Based in Noosa, and working alongside world-leading experts in a purpose-driven, highly motivated team, you'll be supported with on-the-job training to help you become a world leader in the field, with opportunities for rapid career progression.

Key responsibilities
  • Maintain and optimise large-scale microalgae cultures across manual, semi-automated and fully automated systems.
  • Apply aquaculture and environmental-science principles to evaluate culture health, water quality and growth conditions, and identify solutions for production issues and environmental impacts.
  • Operate closed-system bioreactors in compliance with internal protocols and specified regulatory standards.
  • Study, conduct and improve downstream processing activities from harvest through to the final product.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development, optimisation and scientific documentation of the algae production process.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve production efficiency.
  • Maintain precise, accurate records to support data-driven improvements, regulatory compliance and conservation.

Skills and experience required
  • A degree in environmental science, marine or aquatic science, aquaculture, bioprocessing, biotechnology or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
  • Demonstrated experience in microalgae/seaweed cultivation, aquaculture or large-scale biomanufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of bioprocessing, downstream processing and quality/record-keeping systems.
  • A problem-solving, can-do attitude.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills.

What we offer
  • A competitive salary of AUD $80,000-$90,000 plus superannuation.
  • A team-first work environment that supports personal and professional growth.
  • The opportunity to contribute to meaningful, purpose-driven solutions for some of the world's biggest problems.
  • A diverse and inclusive workplace, with a commitment to continuous learning and innovation.
  • Monthly team events.
