The Horticulture Team has an opportunity for a skilled, self-motivated individual who has a passion for greenhouse production. In this role, while reporting to the Greenhouse Coordinator, duties will include care of annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees and related greenhouse and nursery stock.
If you have the following characteristics and qualifications, we want to hear from you:
• Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by courses related to the work in Greenhouse Operations or Horticulture, plus sound experience related to the work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
• Knowledge and experience of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the work.
• Ability to meet the operational needs of the overall Horticulture and Greenhouse Operations.
• Ability to follow the safety precautions required in the work.
• Ability to safely and effectively perform tasks with minimal supervision.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with crew members and other City departments.
• Ability to demonstrate and provide exceptional customer service skills.
• Ability to perform manual/physical labor and to work in a variety of work environments.
• Pesticide Applicator License considered an asset.
• Available to work non-standard working hours including, but not limited to evenings and or weekends
